JECS Trust – mobility for young researchers
Read the letter of Antonia, YCN Committee member!
Dear YCN members,
it is my great pleasure and privilege to introduce you to the JECS Trust and the opportunities that it offers to us as young researchers. JECS Trust funds visits by individuals to other laboratories within Europe to learn new techniques or to access equipment not available in their laboratories. In addition, it funds events such as workshops and conferences, which are specifically aimed at students, early stage researchers or high school teachers.
During my Ph.D., I used the benefits of JECS Trust to participate in the conferences and workshops, which are a great opportunity to expand our international network that is highly important at an early stage in scientific career. On the ACerS Winter Workshop 2019 I met Dr. Nikhil Kamboj, with whom I developed an idea on new three-dimensional scaffolds for bone regeneration applications. Together, we applied for the JECS Trust Mobility for my stay at Tallinn University of Technology. Received fundings enable us to proceed with our scientific idea and achieve collaboration. This collaboration led to two-way knowledge transfer and new ideas for future studies.
The 12 applications have been submitted to the JECS Trust by the last deadline of 31st May 2021 of which 3 for General activities (conferences, workshops, summer schools, etc.) and 9 for Mobility. After discussion during the JECS Trust board of 12th August 2021, 10 applications were approved and 2 were rejected. Take your great idea, put it on the paper and apply for JECS Trust support! Give a point of excellence to your CV, obtain your financial support to visit internationally recognized laboratories, get access to new infrastructures and facilities which rise up, even more, the high quality of your research.
JECS Trust gives another great opportunity for accepted projects. All publications arising from the projects accepted have to be submitted first to Open Ceramics. Article Publication Charges (APC) in Open Ceramics of $2,000 will be covered by the JECS Trust for the applicants of accepted mobility projects.
Do not miss your opportunity! The next deadline for the JECS Trust regular call for projects is 30th November! For more information please visit the JECS Trust website: https://jecstrust.org/
Sincerely,
Dr. Antonia Ressler

Why Crystal Structure Matters: Decoding the Performance of Calcium Phosphate Biomaterials
In the world of calcium phosphate biomaterials, crystal structure is often the silent driver behind a material’s success—or failure. Whether we are developing bone graft substitutes or studying bioceramic interactions at the tissue interface, understanding the underlying crystal lattice isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
