Why Crystal Structure Matters: Decoding the Performance of Calcium Phosphate Biomaterials
In the world of calcium phosphate biomaterials, crystal structure is often the silent driver behind a material’s success—or failure. Whether we are developing bone graft substitutes or studying bioceramic interactions at the tissue interface, understanding the underlying crystal lattice isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.

Tailoring microstructures: Enhancing the thermomechanical properties of refractory castables
To attain the EU’s Net Zero 2050 goals, European steel industries, one of the most intensive carbon emitters, require a rapid transition into cleaner and more sustainable alternatives. Refractories, often called the hidden heroes, are ceramic materials specially engineered to withstand extreme heat while maintaining their strength and chemical stability.

Freezing polymer solutions to create porous ceramics for CO2 utilization applications
Freezing might seem an unlikely method for structuring ceramics, just as creating ceramics from polymers might sound counterintuitive. Yet, combining these two techniques opens an interesting pathway for creating tailored porous materials, which can play an important role in the use of CO2 as a building block for chemical synthesis.

Future-Proofing Glass: A PhD’s Leap into Innovation at CelSian
For over a million years, glass has been formed by nature—and for millennia, by human hands. Yet even as global industries innovate, glass manufacturing techniques remain rooted in technologies developed in the mid-20th century. At CelSian, we see this as an opportunity to shape what comes next—a cleaner, more efficient glass industry.

4D-REVIVE: Unlocking the Potential of Metallic Glasses for Smart Cardiac Patches
Heart attacks remain a major global health challenge. By 2030, coronary atherosclerosis is expected to claim over 12 million lives annually. After a myocardial infarction (MI), the adult heart cannot repair itself, and existing therapies fall short–mainly due to poor engraftment, survival, and alignment of therapeutic cells.
